The ASPECT Geodynamics Lab

I enjoy working collaboratively, and the members of my research group all explore different aspects of the dynamics of the Earth.

Model Gallery

I use the ASPECT geodynamics modeling code to create numerical models for my research. Below are some links to animations of these models.

Research

I am a geodynamicist, and I develop computational models of the Earth’s interior that can help us understand how the Earth’s surface has evolved.

Fall 2021: GLY 4930/GLY 6932 Introduction to Simulations and Computational Techniques for Earth Sciences

Undergraduate course/Graduate course, University of Florida, Department of Geological Sciences, 2021

This course gives an introduction to programming in Python, using examples from the Earth Sciences. No previous programming knowledge is required. To teach the computational techniques given in the learning objectives below, I will use applications relevant to Earth Sciences such as analyzing earthquake magnitudes, plotting geospatial data or how the orientation of dikes is distributed, computing the discharge of a river, analyzing the grain size distribution of rocks, or modeling the carbon cycle.
